Today Amera had spent most of the day in her room. She left a few times to eat and talk with some of the kids, but found it rather peaceful to give a day mostly for herself. She sighed lightly walking around her room. She searched for items that might be misplaced to put them away. She didn't find anything but a sock and a shirt. Amy walked over and tossed both clothing items in her clothes hamper then made her way to her bed. She sat down and placed her hearing aids beside her then moved her legs into an Indian style sit. The aids were new, she just bought it after her old ones broke
knock, knock....knock, knock....her bed room door opened and she looked over
A smile appeared on her face-someone wanted to talk to her! She loved company. She placed her hearing aids back on her ears and signed "Come in," The door wasn't locked or anything so she wouldn't have to get up again. She did, however, move herself to one side of the bed just in-case she wanted to sit down. Their was a chair on the other side of the room, however, Amy didn't like that it would be far away.. She sighed lightly and leaned against the wall behind her.
Kristen come to give her some books she could read in her free time. Kristen worked for the agency and was assigned Amy to look after in the G wing of the building. The whole hallway was hers to look after. Smiling, she gave her thanks and asked if she could be taken to the park for some fresh air. Kristen agreed, but told her they'd only go for a few hours.
Once at the park she sat near a river on a rock. It was rather peaceful today which was good for her, although she did want someone to talk to. She figured she could stick her feet in the water but as she stood her jeans pants got stuck between the rocks she was sitting on. "Hmph" She muttered, trying to pull the pants loose....she failed terribly. Now she was stuck there...but she kept trying to pull herself free.

Logan sat on the bed in her room staring out the window. She had just moved into the orphanage yesterday. They had placed her in G wing. G wing was watched over by Kristen. There weren’t that many kids in this hallway but they were all younger. They believed that by putting Logan away from the kids her age she would stop fighting as much. They also hoped being up in this cold, wet state would change things. Had they learned anything? She fought when the younger children in her foster homes were being threatened. Putting her with the younger kids would not solve their problems; it would probably make them worse! And the cold and wet? Logan would get over it. They never told her any of this of course. They informed her that she was in G wing to help Kristen look after the G wing family. Logan of course knew it was only half true but she didn’t mind.
With a sigh she pushed herself off the bed and moved to the small trunk she had placed at the foot of her bed. Popping the lid open she dug around until she found her clipboard and a square blue box filled with string. Taking both back to her bed she settled against the wall and started pulling colors out. When she had come to this orphanage, one of the first things she had done, after setting up her room, was look at their books. To her disappointment, there were none that she had not already read. So she had been left only with her bracelets until she started school. Logan hummed a little to herself as she worked on the bracelet.
About ten minutes later there was a knock on her door. Kristen poked her head in and offered her a smile. ‘I’m taking a few of the kids to the park. Would you like to come?’
[/i] She paused. ‘It’ll be a great way for you to meet them and get some fresh air.’[/i] Logan thought for a moment. “Sure I’ll be right there.”[/b] Kristen smiled at her and closed the door. Logan sighed and set her bracelet on the nightstand. Hopping up she looked outside and then at herself in the mirror. Deciding the jeans and tee shirt were ok, she grabbed her favorite beanie, a black one with small bear like ears, and her tiger print jacket. Pulling the beanie on carefully and fixing her bleach blonde hair around it, she bounced towards the door as she tugged the jacket on her arms. --- At the park Logan wandered around pushing a few kids on the swings and going down the slide with them some before she spotted the river. Leaving the kids to be pushed by Kristen she skipped towards the river. Upon reaching it she saw Amera, who was tugging on her pants leg. Watching her for a moment she realized the young girl was stuck. “Oh…Here, let me help.”[/b] She spoke softly not knowing she was deaf. Logan went over and easily lifted the rock that her pants were stuck in, freeing her. She smiled at her, “There you go.” She waited a moment and then sat down next to her. “Do you mind if I sit with you?”[/b][/blockquote][/blockquote]

Amera jerked at her pants leg but there was no avail. She sighed and told herself not to jerk it again...she really didn't want to rip her new pants and then people having to buy her more. The young girl bent down and felt where the pants were stuck. It seemed to be wedged between the two rocks. They weren't hooked on anything so hopefully they weren't ripped in anyway. She sighed when a girl come into view...she had almost startled her. Amy didn't like people helping; in fact often refused it, but in this case if she didn't take her offer in help then she would have to go pants-less...Lord knows that will never happen. Shame Kristen wasn't around because she never minded help from her. But that was because Amera grew up around her and she become accustom.
Once her leg was freed she mouthed a thank you to the other person. She could only her the pitch of her voice and the hint of sounds into words. It was a good thing she could read lips easily. Amera kept her eyes on Logan's mouth so she wouldn't miss what was being said to her. It might help if her aids were turned up a little higher but even then Logan would have to speak up or stay close to her face. “Do you mind if I sit with you?” She watched her lips carefully then shook her head. She didn't mind at all and wanted company. "My name is Amera." She signed to her. She moved her lips in form of the words just in case Logan didn't know sign language.
The playfulness in her wanted Logan to swing or climb the jungle gym. She didn't have anyone to play with after all. All her friends were at the orphanage or playing with someone else at the moment. It didn't help that Logan was older than she was... She's learned most older people don't like the same things but she knew the other girl wasn't but so much older. She had seen her at the Orphanage yesterday and remembers Kirsten telling everyone there was someone new and to be nice. "You want to play?" She signed with a rather large smile as she sat on the rock.

Seeing the younger girl shake her head at her question Logan happily took a seat next to her. Grinning at the younger girl it took Logan a moment to notice that she wasn’t speaking. Blinking Logan watched her hands carefully as they moved. “My name is Amera." Logan had been in a home once in which one of the children was deaf. She had learned some signs but not enough to really hold a conversation. She mostly knew things that she liked to do and a few basic manners and phrases. Remembering the sign name her foster brother had given her she slowly signed back to Amera. “My name is Logan. It’s nice to meet you Amera. I’m sorry if I scared you.”
[/b] She offered the girl a shy smile as her arms wrapped around her knees. As they sat there Logan rested her head on her knees and watched Amera. She knew the girl was from the orphanage with her but Logan had still yet to really meet any of the other kids. It was why Kristen had asked her to come along to the park. Her eyes and thoughts were drawn back to Amera signed something else to her. Recognizing the sign for play, Logan grinned and nodded jumping up. She thought for a second and then signed two simple things, “Swings or Jungle Gym?” Grinning at Amera she held out her hand to help the girl up. She wondered just what the girl must think of someone her age, fifteen almost sixteen, acting like such a young and giddy child. Logan was wondering if this girl could possibly be her first friend in this new and cold city.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/size]

Amera smiled brightly and took Logans hand in help. Once up she signed, "Nice to meet you too, Logan!" She bit her lip excitedly then pondered on if she would rather swing or play on the jungle gym. It was a hard choice for her to make but she settled with the swings and then maybe later the jungle gym. "Swings!" She signed happily then took off running for them. Today, the six year old was in a good mood. She wasn't stuck anymore, she was at her favorite place, and someone wanted to play with her. It was perfect.
She turned to Logan once she climbed her way up on one of the swings. "Can you push me?" She asked tilting her head a little. The problem was getting started but once swinging she can keep it up fairly well. "This will be fun! I like you. You're nice! Can we be friends?" She signed a little slower than she normally would to her care-taker because she wasn't sure how fluent Logan was in sign language. Either way, she wanted a new friend! Logan seemed to be someone she would get along with easily and it helped a ton that she knew how to communicate with her.

Logan laughed as Amera signed swings and ran off towards them. She followed her to the swings making sure to watch her speed, very aware of all the humans around her. Reaching the swings she watch Amera climb up onto the swing. She resisted the urge to lift her up and sit her on the swing. As that age she knew she would want to do it all her own. Logan’s eyes took in the next two things Amera signed to her and recognized a few things. Grinning in response to her asking to be friends, she nodded and hugged her gently. Moving behind her, Logan grabbed gently onto the chains. She pulled her back slowly and let her go gently, not wanting to startle her or jolt her off the swing.
As she pushed Amera on the swings her thoughts wandered. It was just a passing thought but what if Amera was like her? Would her new friend be able to hear again? Logan herself would never want to be the one to turn her without full knowledge that it would work. And no matter what she would have to have Amera’s consent for it, and explaining that would be hard. Pulling her thoughts back to the present she grinned at Amera and stopped pushing her so she could swing on her own. Moving around to the swing next to her, Logan kicked herself off and swung with Amera, staying lower than her. Logan made another note in her mind as she watched Amera. She would learn more sign language so that she could communicate better with her new friend. She didn’t want to lose her because they couldn’t talk to each other.
Wrapping her arms around the chains to keep herself steady on the swing, Logan brushed her bangs from her face and grinned at Amera. Her thoughts were all over the place today and now the thought of Amera being adopted by a family that lived next door to the family that adopted her crossed her mind. It would be epic. Even more epic would be if they became sisters. She chuckled at the idea though, it was doubtful to ever happen. Logan herself doubted she would even get adopted before she turned eighteen and was removed from the orphanage. Her face showed that she was in thought as she swung, it wasn’t like her and she needed to think about more positive things. Kenny popped to the front of her vision and she grinned, she would have to get Amera and Kenny to meet. She’d have to see how much, if any sign language he knew.
