When Jacob was young, he had an essentially normal life. Regardless of his diet, he was your average kid. He had friends, got good grades, and did stupid things. Other than your occasional slip-up, Jake was the near best at self-control. When it came to hunting, at least. Never knowing his mother, Jake grew up with the notion that he was an evil, despicable monstrosity. So he turned down human blood once and for all.
As his diet changed, at the true age of thirteen, Jacob noticed that he was able to think more clearly. Sure, he had always been a clear thinker, but he had never quite gotten down the process of it all. As a vegetarian, he was able to live more civilized, more inconspicuous. At the age of sixteen, he began to realize that he wasn't changing. He wondered if he was just a vampire. But, no, his skin did not burn in the daylight, and his eyes did not glare red. Now, he lives in Forks, Washington, on the brink of two worlds.
