Ash is the youngest of three children of the deceased Laylee Hao. He has two older siblings, Kenneth and Mason, and their father, Renato. Kenneth went missing a year before before their mother's death leaving his family clueless of his whereabouts and health. Upon Laylee's passing, Ash is left in a stupor as he sees his family fall apart. Kenneth returns soon after their mother's passing leaving Ash speechless.Laylee's death is soon left in shadow as the family learn's of Kenny's vampirism and the looming threat of a powerful family called the Volturi. Renato was changed first because of his position as the family's head and the desire to protect them. Ash is burdened with watching his father consumed in fires of agony and Mason's reluctance to follow. The ties of family are strong though and Mason soon follows his father and older brother. Ash is thrown into a sea of emotion and his doubts drive him away from his family. Kenny is too preoccupied at this time to see the turmoil lashing at his youngest brother. Renato and Mason are soon changed though and Kenny begins to notice his brother's absence. In a frenzy of fear, Kenny launches into a desparate search for his brother before the Volturi find him. Kenny is able to track Ash down by scent, but comes across Jane before being able to corner his brother. Jane's delight at finding Kenneth leads to a session of fun that leaves Kenneth crippled in pain. Kenneth is able to convince the Volturi Witch that his family has been turned, thus saving Ash's life by a narrow margin. Jane disappears into the mists of the foggy day, leaving Kenny on the ground. Ash appears by his side minutes later, concern showing in his eyes for his brother. Kenny is dazed by the pain Jane inflicted and instinctively grabs for his brother. The mists thicken around them chilling Kenny and helping to clear his head. Kenny stops himself from drinking his brother dry, picks him up and carries him back home.

Ash is an emotional person with immense control. He is quiet at times, and hyper at others. He has a habit of going along with those he is around unless their actions challenge his morality. Amazingly enough, he gets into more trouble with his brothers than he does alone. He tries to be the voice of reason, but he gets caught up in the reckless fun and joy of being with his brothers. Ash is intelligent and has a habit of voicing a wisdom beyond his experience, but his youth always shows when he lets loose and lives. Ash is contradictive because he follows the current of his heart which is hardly ever sensible.
