Ginny loved the library. It was one of her favorite places Ports. She loved the quiet, something that was hard to come by within the bustling town. She loved the historical quality the library held in all its pages. But what she loved most was her place: a small hideaway in a shadowed corner of the library, near the fiction section, its walls stacks of old and forgotten books reaching almost seven feet tall. She'd discovered it a few months ago, and found it was the best place to escape from her busy peers. Not even the librarian bothered to wander back to Ginny's place anymore, all the books there were no longer needed by anyone, not even the librarian.
Ginny began to bring provisions to the small nest of books; pillows, candles, even a desk and chair, anything she thought would make it a more homely place to study. She found herself spending most of her free time in her corner, and though it was big enough for at least three, she was always there alone; just how she liked it.
She had decided to skip lunch and beat the rush of people and the slowness of traffic. She'd get a good selection of books to choose from if the library were deserted, leaving her extra time to read without voices.
She gave the librarian a small smile before grabbing a few choice books off the nearest shelf and heading to that familiar corner in the back of the library. On her way, Ginny thought that she had heard someone else enter the doors only minutes after her and have a small conversation with the librarian, but she shrugged it off.
After dropping off her things, she realized she'd forgotten a crucial addition to her stack of books: The Encylopedia of Antidotes by Delio Pointvale. She headed into the depths of the vast library, knowing by heart exactly where the potions section was. She spotted the encyclopedia shelves above her head and sighed. She stood on the tips of her toes, craning her neck and stretching her arm as far as it would go. Yet the novel was still only at the tips of her fingers. Taking a deep breath, Ginny attempted to reach for the book again.

I tried to kill the pain but only brought more,
I lay dying and I'm pouring crimson regret and betrayal. Today was another day, but what did that matter? Time seemed to hold no meaning to vampires, night and day, dark and light. What did it mean? When they could spend years in each other's arms, or days in a book and never look up. The only thing that gave them time was the thirst, the need for blood. It was the only thing that could drive them to do anything, for vampires did have free will. But the thirst, that some could keep at bay for longer than two weeks and others needed to feast more frequently. The unrelenting fire that burned eternally in the throat of its victims. Tonight, the battle scarred vampire's eyes were dark gold, a honey colour. Not yet black, so he was safe, atleast reasonable.
Walking through the streets of Part Angeles, Jasper wondered what had driven him to this place. It was a while before he remembered that he was trying to do the impossible, and supprise Alice. He knew that would probably never work and decided to visit the library instead. Often, in the decades and centuries vampires had, they read, and you could never run out of books as more were always being published. The sky was grey and rain was threaterning to pour down, the vampire could already smell the wet scent a few milies east from his current position. A rumble of thunder echoed across the town. Empty, becuase the people could sense the storm, just like the dark soldier could as he glidded through the streets. Turning, he walked into the library, he could sit the storm out in here, that way he wouldn't appear conspicuous.
Giving a nod to the librarian, the blonde haired vampire walked silently into the confines of the library. Soon, he was hidden behind the rows of books, looking at the many different tittles. What book finally took Jasper's attention was a long biography of a general in the Confederate army. He looked curiously at it, before removing the book to read the first few pages. His eyes softened, as he remembered mortal days, easy times. Then, his eyes hardened and he placed the book back. It wasn't time to dwell on the past.
Making his way through the library, the battle scarred vampire saw the hybrid, Ginny, trying to reach a book. Moving forwards, Jasper easily reached it and plucked it off the shelf, handing it to her. "Did you need some assitance?" he asked her, without potraying any emotion in his words. Jasper knew that things would of been different a century back. "Do you need soem assitance to aquire the said book you are after, Ma'am." was something that would be said, before helping the being in question. Things changed, and Jasper was very rarey comfortable arounnd his family now. With all the new attention that was brought to the Cullens, the threat from the Volturi. What the Newborn could mean... Jasper just wanted to keep his beloved Alice safe. But how could he if she was going to stay close and die for their family. All he could do was sacrifice himself for her. _______________________________________________ Word count: Tags:Ginny Outfit: Normal Lyrics: Evanescence-Tourniquet Notes:None

Ginny had been so caught up in trying to reach the book she didn't even notice Jasper had come into the library. Usually, she was decent at keeping a notice on the scents around her in case of danger... Especially after her father and how she was attacked not to long ago. "Did you need some assitance?" She stopped standing on the tips of her toes and took the book that Jasper had got for her. "Thank you," She began looking at him then she looked at the book. Yep, it was the correct one. Home remedies for injuries and such. Never know when something like this might come in handy! For herself or for someone else that might be hurt. The book also had the histories of the people that invited the medicines which Ginny found lovely to read.
"Are you looking for anything in particular?" She asked him knowing whatever he may be looking for she could find quickly. She had been here so many times she knew where just about every book was placed including the misplaced books. The thought of herself being a dork always come into her mind but with so much time on her hands reading seemed to pass it. Besides, she really wasn't into the video games and computers that the current generation was intrigued with.
She looked at her brother even though she was deep in her own thoughts. She often wondered if he was starting to get used to her being around. Although never given a reason, she felt like he didn't like new people...or people he doesn't know to begin with. Her and Bree both felt tension for him. The tension toward Ginny felt like it was wearing off but she wouldn't know for sure until he started opening up to her. Being the patient person she is, he could wait as long as he wished too without Ginny feeling like she isn't wanted. Jasper's personality was easy to see but she didn't even know how old her brother was. He never said much to her about his past but nor has Ginny. Besides a few things she had mentioned here and there about her dad or Justin. Otherwise, she didn't know what he really knew about her.
((If you want, I can make it longer))

I tried to kill the pain but only brought more,
I lay dying and I'm pouring crimson regret and betrayal. Looking down at the little hybrid, it was easy for Jasper to remember how he had managed to cheat his way into the Confederate army, his height. He had always been tall, able to reach his full height becuase his family had been rich enough to afford to feed him well. But all that was in the past, all the good times of being human. Now, all there could be was a night time of darkness and blood, the eternal thirst burning at his throat, never easing up, the only times it could be gone was when he drank human blood, and then regret and depression would follow. Sometimes it appeared that he was doomed to failure. The best he could do was try and keep up with his family and hope that he was only struggiling so much becuase of the availibilty of blood in his earlier life.
No smile appeared on Jasper's face as the hybrid, Ginny, thanked him. "No worries. I don't need to be thanked to helping out my family members." he replied shortly. Jasper saw no reason to be thanked, especially when his very presance could be putting the new family member in danger. She still had blood in her and that meant she was edible to him. And that meant that she would always be in danger when around him. The bloodlust was unrelenting and it hurt him, it was always his fault, his failure that caused the family to move. And yet they never blamed him, that was what hurt the most. And Jasper had resolved to do his best not to hurt anyone close to his family who contained human blood.
At Ginny's words, Jasper considered what he was looking for. He never really looked for anything. Things just came. He thought back to the book he had started to read. It was one of his friends, and someone of a higher rank. The real reason Jasper hadn't read any further was becuase he guessed that he would be mentioned, and he couldn't stand to see words printed about his human days, words telling him about how he had been soldier and a friend to humans, how he misteriously disappeared. And if it did effect him emotionally, it was best to be away from other people, out in the woods. He didn't want to infect his own emotions onto others.
"Not really. I've recently reread 'The Lord of the Rings' and I doubt I'd be allowed to go and read it again. Maybe I should look for some other classics, like 'The Iliad' or 'The Oddessey'. " Jasper said softly, he wasn't going to talk about the book he was considering reading. He wanted to read it, he just couldn't bring himself to go and pick it up and look at the words and see what he was remembered as. Would his old friend view him as a coward, and that he had ran away? Or would he be mentioned as victim, slaughtered by the Unions and his body never returned, out of spite?
As he was thinking, Jasper let no sign of anything pass over his features, after so many years in the war, the former soldier was used to hidding his emotions. Strict control over his power was now used all the time. It had only been strengthening, in his days of training the newborns he kept himself feeling a particular way and the newborns acted the same way. But now he could keep his power under control so no one felt what he was feeling. Yet he always knew what they were feeling.

Ginny flipped a page as she listened to him talk. Her eyes quickly scanned over the first page figuring out if she really wanted to add this to her collection or not. First thing mentioned was a man named Arnold Urhger who had a simple recipie for small cuts to not become infected. It seemed rather simple to do consdering she could easily find the supplies she needed in the house. She always tried her best to not be clumsy there though. With so many vampires in the house it's never a good idea to get cut or hurt around them. Most the family had pretty decent control, Bree however was a different story. And she knew Jasper had a bit of a hard time. Then again, the whole family probably had a hard time occasionally. Carlisle was the only one around blood almost every day at the hospital so he was used to it.
These thoughts reminded her of the few, or many depending on how it's looked at, times she had to teleport herself out of the house for hurting herself. It wasn't that she didn't trust them. She just doesn't want them to be bothered and urged because she knew what it felt like to want and crave human blood. She did live off it for more than twenty years after all. Thanks to her dad who always brought blood bags from the hospitals. Consider it stealing but at least no one died. Unlike her father, Ginny has never killed a human before and never plans too. After her father had been murdered she started living off the blood of animals, which to this day, still can't got used to. The taste just wasn't nearly the same.
"You can tell me that as many times as you want. I will still use my manners." She nodded lightly shutting the book and holding it up in her arm as her other arm fell to her side. Ginny's manners had always been very polite even toward someone she didn't like. It was just how her father had raised her. She could remember very clearly on getting in trouble every time she didn't say 'thank you', 'you're welcome, 'sir', 'ma'am', 'no, thanks', ect. Her habit of it would be very hard to break. But honestly, it wasn't a bad habit to have. "One of my....many habits..." She muttered not really talking to him. More too herself.
"Ah." She said, smiling. "The Odyssey. I've read it so many times I can almost recite it." A grin appeared on her face for a moment but dropped when she thought of the movie. "Movie didn't do it justice." She added. They movie wasn't at all bad, for the most part, she just preferred books over movies. "I can't really watch movies based off books. Like the Harry Potter series...They leave out to much." With a shrug she looked away from him a moment then looked back. "Sorry....rambling."

I tried to kill the pain but only brought more,
I lay dying and I'm pouring crimson regret and betrayal. Jasper sighed softly as he looked at the books, books upon books, knowledge. And knowledge was power. It was something that was never given to newborns int the armies, and yet, out of all the newborns in Maria's, he himself was chosen to be given the privilage of knowledge, the chance to surivive. And all becuase of his power. What purpose did her serve, being alive. All there was for him was Alice, that was his only reason for living, why had he tried to live through all the battles when with Maria, what had made him that insane? Or had he known deep down that some day he would meet someone important, someone who would change his life for the better. Had he, deep down inside, not wanted to die a monster?
Now, he looked curiously at this new member of the family, a hybrid, a vampire and human. And he wondered how this worked. He knew little of her and never felt the need to pry into her life, and she did not look into his. Everything was calm, balenced and a hint of tension. Becuase everyone knew who was the most dangerous around humans, and Jasper knew it. Human blood appealed to him, more than it did to any of the others, or so it felt. Maybe he was just more inclined to leave it, maybe he didn't want to keep up this lifestyle as much as the others. But they didn't have only a nightmare as their other option. The feelings of all his victims dying was too much and he never wanted to go back to that.
Laughing softly as he heard Ginny's words, Jasper was pleasnatly suprised that she seemed to be similar to him in the way of manors. "I was brought up with manors too, a long time ago. Its just hard to use the same manors from when I was around. Still slip through from time to time." Jasper shrugged. Ma'am, sir, that had been a big part of his life, and so had thanking people. But slaves never were thanked or spoken to with manors. They weren't even worth as much as horses. Things had changed so much since he was human and Jasper almost missed those days, even though they had slaves. Being a human would be better than being a monster. "Manors became a habbit of mine as well, it was something that took a while to get out of." Jasper shrugged. "And even then it still slips through. Its just a bit obvious calling everyone Ma'am and sir. People might get conspicuos." he shrugged.
"The problem with being a vampire is that you memorize everything instantly. So I can recite it. Oh well, atleast I can re-read Lord of the Rings. You're right about the movies made out ofbooks. You can never do a book justice, no matter how hard you try." sighed the old civil war soldier. Things were never simple, never as easy as they seemed. Especially life. Death was even harder to cope with. Especially this tormented death.

Ginny nodded as he talked about manners. She was born in the 1960's and manors were still used then. Now it seemed as if people only used them when addressed authority or for the army. Teenagers were getting worse and worse about how they act. It's a shame to see the world turning as it is. The young hybrid saw nothing good of it just a lot of wars, fighting, and some rather unlucky things happening. But that, of course, wasn't based on manners alone. That was just one of the small things. There were a few perks to the new age verses the old though. She knew it would take some time before she could get out of the habit herself. She didn't want to but it might be a good idea. Using ma'am or sir for the adults wouldn't leave her but she wouldn't use it was often as she normally would.
"I like movies though. Just not movies from books." She grinned lightly thinking of the many movies she loves and can watch over and over again. She didn't reply to being able to recite stuff because of being a vampire. She knew what that was like. She was half a vampire after all and carried many traits that they have. May not be as strong but it takes a very long time for memories to start fading. The first year of living was starting to be a blur but not by much. It worried her that the memories of her father would soon drift away too. She held them so close to her that she thought about him at least once a day. Often talks to him as well. She believes in some sort of after life and can only wish he could hear her.
"Would you like to go somewhere, Jasper?" She asked trying to stir away the sad thoughts. "It would be nice to spend some time with my brother." She gave a light smile brushing a piece of her hair from her eyes. The two hadn't really been able to bond and she wanted to try. She was just busy trying to let everyone get used to her being around. When she first arrived at the house she wasn't sure if she would be welcomed at all but Esme and Carlisle welcomed her with open arms. Edward she didn't worry about because he's the one that found her. The rest of the family though, she had been careful with. "We don't have to though." She added in case Jasper wouldn't want to or had something else to do. It didn't matter to her where they go...if anything stay at the library and read in their own silence. It's still spending time together.
notes;; sorry if it sucks

Yo Ho, haul together, Hoist the colours high, Heave Ho, Theives and Beggars, Never Shall We Die! So often, it was easy to see the world changing, sometimes it seemed that you didn't even need to be immortal to see how humans changed. Carlisle would of surely seen such a large change. Jasper himself had only noticed the massive dip in manors, that had come around in less than a century. Sometimes, Jasper wondered what would happen if sevre punnishments were brought back to the world. Like the cane. Then manors might be used, be drilled into people. It was important, manors, becuase it gave people a worth, yet nowdays people seemed to loose them.
Jaspre shrugged at her words. "I think movies can be over rated and melodramatic. A book keeps you going for longer and it stretches you, you have to think more." Jasper said softly, looking around at the books that lived n the library. He knew libraries also gave out audio books, videos and DVDs. In truth, libraries were not home to books, but home to knowledge and entertainment. Modern culture often missed this out, often forgot about the places were important to society and understanding.
Thinking, Jasper wondered about were it would be possible to go. He was fine with the library, but if Ginny wanted to go somewhere, then it was fine with him. "If you want to go somewhere, we can." Jasper said, thinking. If she wanted to talk about the vampire stuff, though, the forest would be better, otherwise, Jasper guessed they wouldn't have much to talk about and he'd probably stick his nose in a book. "If you wish to talk about... family buisness, it would be best not to do it amoung public, but I would like to borrow a book if we are to be leaving the library." Jasper said, keeping his voice quite. That was another good thing about libraries, everyone kept quite. But it also meant that it was easier to eaves drop.

Ginny was happy he would go somewhere with her. They didn't get to spend time together often so she was taking this chance. She wasn't exactly sure where they would go though considering her thing wasn't really his thing. She liked going to the park and watching children play, art, painting, and photography as well as walking or running. She wasn't sure if any of those things would appeal to him. She racked her brain for something they could do that they would but enjoy besides reading. "If you wish to talk about... family business, it would be best not to do it among public, but I would like to borrow a book if we are to be leaving the library." She didn't even think about talking about family matters. Although she was thinking about getting Alice a present of some sort, but that wouldn't do harm if someone heard them talking about it. It was just a present.
Ginny sighed lightly feeling almost defeated that she couldn't think of something. "I have some books I may borrow as well...seven I think I'll be taking for the week." She thought about her little pile she had in her corner. Seven out of ten books will be leaving the library and the other three when she returns. More than likely she will add to the three but right now she's satisfied. "Where do you want to go?" She asked. "We could paint at the shop. We could work on a canvas together!" She said thinking that would be something lovely to do. The canvas was five foot long and four and a half wide so they could have a bit to work with. "I have a large one we can create on in my office. Hundreds of colors as well." The thoughts of her many art supplies ran through her mind and her eyes strayed away from him a moment.
She wasn't sure if she were ready to return to her work place after the....attack....though. It had been a few weeks since she left the hospital and she hasn't returned since. Ginny owned the shop now because the man who had it before didn't have the money for it. Now that she has taken over things things have been turning around. She was just happy there were still a place for all her art-like needs. "It would be nice to grab some things and paint the park or maybe paint the house. Esme would love a painting of the house." She thought aloud. "But... If you would rather do something else I don't mind." She added in rather quickly looking back at him.

Yo Ho, haul together, Hoist the colours high, Heave Ho, Theives and Beggars, Never Shall We Die! For Jasper, it was easy to tell that Ginny was happy, and Jasper guessed it was becuase she had never had much time to talk to him and get to know him. However, jasper didn't think he could share in the same hapiness. After so many years of war and conflict it wasn't easy to win back happiness. Hope had been easier, that had taken one hand to regain, even though it had been lost for almost a century. Jasper doubted that he would every fully regain true happiness. He was happy with the family, happy with Alice. But feeling happiness at simple things... how could that be returned? Happiness wasn't a book that could be borrowed or brought.
"Yeah. The great things about books is that more will come out. You can never run out..." Jasper said sofltly, thinking about the one book he wanted to read. He wondered if Ginny had read it. Jasper thought about art, he didn't really mind, he preffered to let Ginny have her choice. "If you want to do painting, sure." he shrugged. Although Jasper guessed that his painting may be a bit depressed, full of death and horror. But he didn't have much other things to draw back on.
"Or paint the family, I'm sure Esme would like that." Jasper pointed out softly, not sure how he could manage that. Especially if he had to do Alice. Alice was just so perfect.

Ginny gave him a small nod when he agreed to paint. She decided to go ahead and check out the books so they could head to the shop sooner. Where they would go paint it wouldn't matter to her. She had a photographic memory so she honesty didn't need to be infront whatever she was painting. It's always nice to though. "I'm sure Esme would." She agreed thinking that they could paint both the house and the family on the canvas. She enjoyed putting ideas together.
"We should go ahead and get our books then." She added with a light smile. Ginny tucked the book she had under her arm and moved around Jasper to go back to her corner. She smiled at the fact nothing was moved or touched. The librarian never moved what Ginny set out because she knew she would put it all back in its place. Being such a neat, ntidy person always come in handy at some point or another. With a soft sigh, she looked through her pile to pick out which ones she wanted. Once separated she picked up the three she could have later and began putting them back in there rightful places. She even made sure they were correct to the dewy decimal system. She gave a light giggle at how nerdy she felt but shrugged it off like it was nothing. Which it was nothing.
Ginny turned around and started walking to her book pile but on the way ran into a rack that fell over. "Oops." She blinked and bent down to start putting the books all back. She always tended to run into things on accident; her clumsiness was getting better the more she concentrated on avoiding it. Taking after her mom on this, being clumsy seemed to always find her. It was something that had baffled her father. He could never understand why a being who is half vampire can knock things over all the time. "There." She mumbled to herself once all the books where back on the rack.
Her head turned to the librarian and gave her a nod as if to say 'sorry'. The lady only grinned at her though. At least she wasn't upset by it... After checking out her collection she waited by the door for Jasper. Luckily for her, she had her long one strapped bag to hold all her books. Otherwise she'd probably have a hard time keeping them in her hands.
