Alice was sitting on the window sill in her bedroom. It was a very still, silent night as large white flakes of snow fell from the sky and muffled all sounds. However, the moon was breaking through some of the clouds and shone a pale silver light over everything. It was so beautiful, and Alice wondered where Jasper was as she wanted him to see this. As she waited for him she sang a song that was stuck in her head.
Daylight, see the dew on a sunflower, Like a rose that is fading, Roses wither away Like the sunflower, I yearn to turn my face to the dawn I am waiting for the day...
Besides her high, chiming voice, all was silent and there wasn't much of any sound to be heard, even for a vampire. Alice hoped Jasper would hear her voice and follow it, come to her. For some reason she didn't feel like yelling his name. It seemed to peaceful for that, and Alice didn't want to disturb the silence. Only singing felt right, but this was beautiful and Alice wanted someone to share it with, someone she loved.

I tried to kill the pain but only brought more,
I lay dying and I'm pouring crimson regret and betrayal. Jasper had been reading, as he often did, since his last trip to the library, he had stocked up on a lot of books. His eyes flickered towards the autobiography he had borrowed, the autobiography of his old human friend. He had yet to read this book, he was saving this one for when he was alone, too afraid that he would be mentioned and his power would go out of control. As he was reading one of the other many books he had borrowed, Jasper heard the sweet sound of his wife singing and he paused and closed his book, listening to the high voice singing. No voice could compare to Alice's, she had the most beautiful voice he had ever heard. He smilied softly and stood up, moving towards Alice.
"All my memories gather round her Miner's lady stranger to blue water Dark and dusty painted on the sky Misty taste of moonshine teardrops in my eyes"
Jasper was not exactly comfortable with singing music, but Alice was and that changed his perspective, and Jasper knew that they were alone for now. He wasn't sure what Alice would think about his choice, but there wasn't much music from cats that were suitable for Jasper's voice. They usually needed a very wide voice range to sing, females having to go very low or very high and the same for the men. So, Jasper had chosen a verse from a song from the South, true it was younger than him and about Virgina, but 'Country Roads' was something in his voice range.
Finally Jasper reached Alice and he placed a soft hand on her back and looked out the window. "Nice singin', ever thought about goin' into Opera?" Jasper ased with a smile. 'Country Roads' was sung in a Southern accent and Jasper didn't change that when he was singing, but he did decide to keep in that accent for talking to Alice, it would please her, he knew that.

Alice didn't turn away from the window, she just let Jasper come to her, and she smiled softly to herself when she heard him singing too. Deep down, she really wished they would be able to sing a song together, one with harmonies as she thought this would work really well. However, when she felt his hand on her back Alice turned around and hugged Jasper. "I was wondering where you were," She smiled warmly, happy to have the company of her beloved mate. With her arms still around him, Alice looked out of the window."Isn't it beautiful out there?" She sighed. "You know, I think we'd sound better together." Alice said with a smile.

I tried to kill the pain but only brought more,
I lay dying and I'm pouring crimson regret and betrayal. A low laugh sounded from Jasper as Alice turned around and hugged him, it was just like his wife to be enthusiastic in everything that happened. "My appologise, Ma'am. I was downstairs reading a book." Jasper replied with a smile and a chuckle. There was nothing as perfect as Alice, nothing that could make a dark day turn into one of light and happiness. It had been this tiny vampire who had turned his life around, this little vampire who had saved him from himself. And the former civil war soldier was eternally grateful to Alice for this.
At Alice's words, Jasper's golden eyes flickered to look out the window at the view. He could not deny that the scene was beautiful. The mountains were looming and covered in green trees, apart from where snow fell and turned the landscape white. The lower ground was still bright emerald green, a slight mist covered the lower grounds, and its silver made everything seem pearlescent, however, it was certainly not the most beautiful thing that jasper could see. "Yes it is beautiful, but I can see something a thousand times more beautiful than the view." Jasper replied, his golden eyes resting on Alice.
Jasper rolled his eyes at Alice's words. "What song, Ma'am?" he asked with a smile. "The Phantom of the Opera?" Jasper thought he could manage the male part of that song, it wasn't too high, although it was very high for the female singer, but also ranging low for her as well, which might not be a strong point for Alice. There were very little songs in the range os musicals and Andrew Loyd Webber that were easy to sing if you didn't have a wide voice range. Operas were not much better. Folk songs, ofcourse were a lot easier.

Alice would have blushed at Jasper's words of seeing something more beautiful than the view. Instead she just blinked a few times. "Well, I may be beautiful but you are perfect. Just as you are." She said warmly with a smile. Even though he wasn't perfect, far from it as he had slipped up the most out of all of them, Jasper would always be perfect to Alice, for her. He wouldn't have to do anything, or be anything for her. Just as he was, in Alice's opinion was exactly how she wanted him. Alice wrapped her arms around her mate, affectionately. "I don't know what song. I honestly haven't thought about it. I only thought that we would sound nice together!" She looked up at Jasper, her wide innocent eyes shining brightly. "The Phantom of the Opera might be a bit low. But I must admit to not having any better suggestions." Alice watched the outside world. It always made her sad to think that it wouldn't last forever... Not like her, not like Jasper, not like their love at least. Snow never lasted much longer than a week. It always had to melt, let the sunshine have its turn... All things changed. But then, Alice supposed that she wouldn't appreciate these things if they were always there. The fact that snow was rare made it even more special.

Yo Ho, haul together, Hoist the colours high, Heave Ho, Theives and Beggars, Never Shall We Die! A frown wove its way across his face as Alice said that he was 'perfect'. The former Confederate knew that he wasn't perfect, even excluding all the scars that mared his vampire body. He had killed, he had murdered, he had done it many times. However, Jasper didn't argue back, as he did not want to get in a fight with the beautiful vampire besides him. As Alice wappred her arms around him, a smile grew across his face and Jasper let his emotions drop and he gently showed Alice the happiness she gave him. It wasn't often that Jasper dropped his walls and let the emotions of others effect him much, or let them see how he was feeling.
Jasper rolled his eyes. "No, I think Phantom of the Opera might be a bit high." he laughed. The notes for men were really high, it would probably be impossible for Emmett to do it and Jasper didn't really want to attempt it anyway. "The Bonnie Blue Flag?" he suggested unhelpfully. "They Yellow Rose of Texas?" Jasper had never been much of a singer, but they had had plenty of songs in the army. He wondered whether Alice would object.
